Getting connected
My Mac doesn't show up on my iPhone
- Make sure Monitor Link is running on the Mac. Its icon is in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Make sure the iPhone and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi.
- On the iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and turn Monitor Link on.
- Still nothing? On the Mac, click the Monitor Link icon, choose Connect a Phone with a QR Code, and scan it.
The Mac asked about "devices on your local network"
Click Allow. Monitor Link needs it so your iPhone can reach the Mac. If you clicked Don't Allow, turn it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
Scanning the QR code doesn't work
On the iPhone, tap your Mac in the list and type the 8-letter code shown under the QR code instead.
Do I need the Mac app?
Yes. Your interface is controlled through UAD Console or Focusrite Control on your Mac, and the free Monitor Link Mac app is what lets your iPhone talk to them.
Buying Monitor Link
How much does it cost?
The iPhone app and the Mac app are free to download. To control your interface, unlock it once inside the iPhone app: one purchase for Apollo, one for Scarlett. No subscription.
Can I try it first?
Yes. Open the iPhone app and tap Try the demo. It runs the full remote with a pretend Apollo and Scarlett, no Mac or interface needed.
I got a new iPhone. Do I have to pay again?
No. On the purchase screen, tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account.
Using Monitor Link
It says "Open UAD Console" or "Open Focusrite Control"
Monitor Link controls your interface through its own software, so keep that open on the Mac.
It says "Click Allow in Focusrite Control"
The first time, Focusrite Control asks whether to allow Monitor Link. Click Allow in its window on the Mac.
The volume won't go any higher
You've reached your volume cap, the red mark on the knob. To change it, tap the gear (⚙︎) on the remote and adjust Monitor max.
Is my volume safe?
Yes. Monitor Link caps how loud the phone can make your speakers, moves volume in small smooth steps, and fades in when unmuting or switching. It also asks before turning on 48V phantom power.
Which interfaces work?
Universal Audio Apollo interfaces with UAD Console, and Focusrite Scarlett interfaces that work with Focusrite Control. You'll need an iPhone with iOS 17 or later and a Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later.
Sending us a log
If we ask for a log, click the Monitor Link icon in your Mac's menu bar, click the ⋯ button and choose Show Log, then attach the file to your email. It holds only technical details about the connection.
